China's Capital Airlines announces first direct flight to Portugal

China's Capital Airlines has unveiled details of the first ever direct scheduled flights between China and Portugal, starting on 26 July.

The airline said it presents Portugal as a platform for Africa and Latin America. Flights from Hangzhou, on China's east coast, to Lisbon, with a stop in Beijing, are initially to be on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, but the objective is to have a daily flight.

The airline is also to start flights between Macau, a former Portuguese colony that is part of China, and Beijing, to link up with the Lisbon flight, so as also to serve the 15,000 Portuguese who live there.
