Proposed local short-term lodging laws scrapped


A new bill addressing local short-term lodging laws has been scrapped by the government.

The bill, caused some controversy as it proposed to give neighbours the power to authorise or veto rental properties. It was drawn up by socialist MPs but will no longer be debated in parliament. Reports claim Prime Minister Antonio Costa has instructed his new State Secretary for Habitation to prioritise accessible rents for the middle class.
