Algarve hospitality workers call regional strike

The Algarve’s Hospitality Workers’ Union has called regional strike action for 1 August, coupled with a gathering in Faro.
This, the union says, is because the sector major employer associations “continue to refuse salary rises that replenish lost purchasing power in recent years and promote a better distribution of the wealth created by the workers”.
In addition, the Union considers the proposed law changes currently under discussion in Parliament, “unacceptable”, and which if approved would further accentuate exploitation.
