Eastern Algarve on maximum fire alert

Five councils in the eastern Algarve have been placed on maximum alert due to the risk of wildfires. Firefighters in Tavira, Loulé, São Brás, Alcoutim and Castro Marim have been placed on the highest level of readiness.
The alerts are set to remain in place for the coming days due to the prevailing weather conditions, though no warnings have been issued for the far western Algarve.
