Maximum fire risk for much of the Algarve
Seven councils in the Algarve have been placed on maximum fire alert due to prevailing weather conditions.
The Portuguese Met Office has issued the highest warnings for Monchique, Silves, Loulé, Tavira, São Brás de Alportel, Alcoutim and Castro Marim due to the imminent risk of wildfires.
The warnings are set to remain in place for the remainder of the week as the warm, dry weather, accompanied by some blustery conditions are set to remain.
