May 2019 fourth hottest in 20 years
Last month was the fourth hottest month of May in 20 years.
As well as being unusually hot, May 2019 was also the 7th warmest since records begin in 1931. It also registered the second highest maximum air temperature values since 1931, only surpassed by the year 2015.
According to the Met Office, last month was “very hot with regard to air temperature and extremely dry in terms of rain”.
