Minister confirms more police for the Algarve

Portugal’s Home Minister has confirmed that the Algarve will receive additional police resources this summer to maintain the existing trend that has seen crime drop in the region.

Speaking on Sunday in Faro, Eduardo Cabrita unveiled the Safe Algarve 2019 programme which he says will build on figures from 2018 that saw crime fall by just under ten percent.

GNR and PSP police will see their numbers boosted by several hundred officers, while immigration officials are also to be supported by additional resources.
