Portugal zooms in on Greater Lisbon to curb COVID-19
Portuguese Ministry of Health will focus efforts to control the COVID-19 pandemic in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, which has a large share of new cases. Around 7,000 tests will be done per day, in addition to inspections in places of greatest vulnerability.
Minister of Health Marta Temido met on Sunday (May 31) with mayors from the central region of the country to define “stronger strategies” to contain the pandemic.
As of Sunday (May 31), the pandemic has infected 32,500 people and claimed 1,410 lives in Portugal.
