Tourism figures show strong growth

April tourism figures have revealed marked growth on the same month last year, following a rise in Spanish tourists and a late Easter.
Figures were up just under ten percent, with the number of Spanish visitors soaring 55 percent on last April. The Algarve grew substantially above the national average, with revenue ballooning by close to 20 percent.
After years of relative stagnation, passenger numbers were up 11 percent at Faro Airport during the first four months of this year. Visitors from the UK remained the biggest share, and were up ten percent.
